Ekta Kapoor wants scenes in her movie Ragini MMS re-shot.

The not-easy-to-please Ekta Kapoor saw the first cut of the movie and asked for certain scenes to be re-shot.

A source said, "Ekta loved the rushes but felt the scare factor needed to be upped."

Director Pawan Kripalani said, "It's a work in progress. Ekta has no issues with the film. The first cut is very long and we are trying to cut it down to 90 minutes."

He added, "What Ekta saw was just a rough cut devoid of sound design and visual effects. Take any great film and remove the sound and visual effects it will lose its impact."

The TV czarina plays it down as well. "Two scene effects are being re-done. It is half a day's work. Someone is spreading rumours about the film. Also, the release date remains the same, Friday, May 13."

Several scenes of Ekta's other production Shor In The City, starring her brother Tusshar Kapoor and Preeti Desai were also re-shot.

'Gossip Girl' star Blake Lively is set to be honoured with the Breakthrough Performer of the Year award at an upcoming Las Vegas film convention.

Lively, 23, will be recognised as Hollywood's top emerging talent at the annual CinemaCon convention, hosted by the National Association of Theatre Owners.

"Blake recently captivated audiences and critics around the world with her stunning turn in The Town, and Green Lantern is one of the most anticipated films of the year," the Daily star quoted CinemaCon managing director Mitch Neuhauser as saying.

Hugh Jackman and SRK also shared their views on the studio system and the marriage between Bollywood and Hollywood movies. Citing an example that they are already at it, Hugh Jackman informed that while shooting for `Australia', a scene required him to kiss Nicole Kidman. "And out of nowhere came the instruction that we were to kiss in the rain! I was like `Why can't it be the sun'? And then someone told me about Bollywood movies and the natural props they use to dramatise a scene," laughed the sexist man on earth.

In one of the biggest compliment, SRK attributed `Wolverine' as his inspiration for his super hero film `Ra.One. "Must confess my movie is inspired by Wolverine. My entire family is your huge fan, including me. And my son introduced me to all your work related to X-Men series, including the video game and the comic books". Jackman complimented back crediting stars like SRK for exposing Bollywood to the outside world.

In another big confession SRK publicly expressed his fears and inability to make it to Hollywood due to his Indianised accent. "So it's better that I make films for my people here, and make them and myself happy," he said. However Jackman didn't buy that logic and encouraged him to get a ticket to Hollywood. "I do not subscribe to your opinion. You are a big and popular star and I am sure you can make it in Hollywood".

The lovely evening came to an end with SRK teaching The Prestige star how to gyrate to a Bollywood numbers, with Madhuri Dixit's `Dhak Dhak karne laga, mora jiyara darne laga' as the song. And mind you, the sexy Hugh Jackman scored over SRK and how!

Charlie Sheen's spokesperson has cleared up reports that the actor has parted ways with his literary agent.

He said the former ‘Two And A Half Men’ star never hired the book agent in the first place, reports Contactmusic.

Sheen was said to have teamed up with Peter MCGuigan at Foundry Media Group to help him secure a contract to release a memoir, but rumours emerged earlier this week claiming the actor had walked away from the deal with MCGuigan.

Elizabeth Taylor's 'White Diamonds' remains the world's best-selling celebrity fragrance of all time - 20 years after it first launched.

It is estimated that the global sales of the scent, which is manufactured by Elizabeth Arden, reached 61.3 million pounds in 2010.

The Oscar-winning actress, who died on Wednesday at the age of 79, was one of the first stars to launch a signature fragrance with any success, reports the Daily Mail.

Soha Ali's Scary experience with Ammi, Working with ammi was bit scary: Soha Ali Khan

Facing the camera with her mom was not an easy task for Soha Ali Khan who was "nervous" while shooting with Sharmila Tagore for the film "Life Goes On". This is the first time the duo will be seen together on screen.

"I didn't forget my lines or anything, but I was nervous because she has a very good aesthetic sense," Soha told IANS in an interview here.
"When in a good mood, she is amazing. But when in a bad mood, it's like the worst thing ever. But she was very good and restrained during shooting and also suggested to me to follow director Sangeeta Datta's instruction carefully," added the 32-year-old actor who was here for an event.

"Life Goes On" opens Friday and it is an emotional drama about generational conflict set in contemporary London.

Asked about her expectations, she said: "I have no expectation and I have learnt not to expect anything from films. Yes, it was great working for the movie. I got a chance to work with ammi (Sharmila). It's quite an emotional movie where the journey of the loss of a mother and family is portrayed in a sensitive way," she said.

Banker-turned-actress Soha made her debut with Anant Mahadevan's 2004 film "Dil Maange More" and featured next year in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's "Rang De Basanti".

"I am also doing a film called 'Sound track' which is opposite Rajiv Khandelwal. It is an official remake of Hollywood comedy 'It's All Gone Pete Tong '. Rajiv plays DJ and I play a girl who is born deaf. I find the role very interesting. It was difficult to get into that mode because I can't imagine life without sound and you can't work it out either. So I kept on forgetting the fact that I am playing a deaf girl," said Soha.

Talking about her personal life, Soha, who is dating Kunal Khemu, said she is ready to settle down in a couple of years.

"I am in comfortable space and we (Kunal and Soha) are happy with our career graphs; so whenever the right time comes, we will announce our marriage," she said.

What about Saif who said he'll get married before her as he's the elder brother?

"That's not necessary. I don't have to wait for anyone because I don't want to. If he takes 10 years then I will never wait. I don't know how long he will take, he might tie the knot tomorrow!" she said.

Jesus Crown to display at British Museum, 'Thorn from Jesus's crucifixion crown' goes on display at British Museum

It was plundered in the Fourth Crusade, sold to French royalty and has spent the past 200 years in safekeeping at a British public school.

Now a relic claimed to be a thorn from Jesus's crown is to go on display at the British Museum.

And while no one can doubt the item's rich history, there is less evidence to support the claims of its provenance.

The Crown of Thorns is said to have been seized from Constantinople, the imperial capital of the Roman Empire, in the Fourth Crusade - around AD 1200 - and was later sold to King Louis IX of France while he was in Venice.

King Louis kept the religious relic in the specially-built Saint Chapel and thorns were broken off from the crown and given to people who married into the family as gifts.

The thorn at Stonyhurst College - a 400-year-old Jesuit boarding school - was said to have been given to Mary Queen of Scots who married into the French royal family and she took it with her to Holyrood in Edinburgh.

And following her execution in 1587, it was passed from her loyal servant, Thomas Percy, to his daughter, Elizabeth Woodruff, who then gave it to her confessor - a Jesuit priest - in 1600.

The Jesuits brought it with them to the college and it has been kept at the Ribble Valley college ever since.

Now it is to be loaned to the British Museum in London for a new exhibition, Treasures of Heaven, inspired by saints, relics and devotion in medieval Europe.

Jan Graffius, curator at Stonyhurst, said: 'It is an incredible object and we are really delighted that it will form part of the British Museum exhibition. It is a priceless treasure.'

Catriona Graffius, a sixth former at the college, was invited to take part in the production of a podcast guide for the exhibition.

She was interviewed to give a pupil's perspective on her school's precious possession, and said: 'I was asked to describe the thorn, which has Mary Queen of Scots's pearls twined around it.

'The thorn is placed in a chapel at Stonyhurst every year in Holy Week.'

The British Museum exhibition features sacred treasures of the medieval age, which have been collected from more than 40 institutions and many of which have not been seen in the UK before.

The thorn will sit next to rare loans from the Vatican, including from the private chapel of the popes and the Sancta Sanctorum.

While the majority of objects date from between AD 1000 to 1500, some of the earliest pieces include a late Roman sarcophagus dating from between AD 250 and 350.

The exhibition will open in June 23 and run until October 9.

David Cameron warned there 'is a difficult road that we have to take' when asked what life will be like in five years time as he visited Nottingham with Nick Clegg.

And today an influential think tank said there is a one in three chance he will have to raise taxes or cut spending to meet Mr Osborne's deficit reduction plan.

The Institute for Fiscal Studies said high inflation and sluggish growth meant there was a '30 per cent chance' the country struggles to hit the targets.

An analyst said the coalition Government could also struggle to meet its pledge to raise real terms spending on the National Health Service in every year of the current parliament.

She said that the worsening economic outlook forecast by the Office for Budget Responsibility meant that the NHS appeared to be heading for a real terms spending freeze over the next four years - representing the tightest settlement since the 1950s.

Analyst Gemma Tetlow said there was a risk NHS spending targets will be missed.

'They are susceptible to the possibility that either changes to the spending figures or changes to inflation could easily tip them the wrong side of zero,' she said.

Despite Mr Osborne's declaration in the Budget that he did not need to raise any more cash, she said he may need to in future years.

'There is a 30% chance further tax increases or deeper spending cuts will be needed,' she said.

Yesterday the Chancellor's moves to ease the pain of the soaring cost of living and boost enterprise were accompanied by announcements that will mean millions working longer and paying more tax.

In his boldest long-term reform, the state pension age is to be linked to rising life expectancy, raising the prospect of employees having to wait until their 70s to retire – though they will get a more generous £140-a-week payment.

Mr Osborne skated over a change in how annual thresholds for some taxes are calculated, which will mean millions paying more in national insurance and capital gains tax and having lower ISA limits than they expected.

Yuri Gagarin's historic space flight recreated in movie

Late Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin's historic flight around the Earth in 1961 has been recreated in a movie.

There is no film to show what Gagarin saw through the view ports of his Vostok capsule, there is only an audio recording of his observations, which has now been matched to high-definition video shot from the station.

“When you combine these pictures of what he was genuinely able to see with the excitement and tingle in his voice, it’s quite amazing,” the BBC quoted film director and space historian Dr Chris Riley as saying.

Gagarin became the first human to venture above the Earth’s atmosphere when he blasted away from the Tyuratam missile range (now the Baikonur Cosmodrome) in Kazakhstan at 0607 GMT on 12 April 1961.

His 108-minute journey around the globe took him across the Soviet republics, across the Pacific Ocean, over the Straits of Magellan in South America, above the Atlantic and Africa before re-entry and a bailout back to the ground near the city of Engels in southwest Russia.

The view down to Earth along this same path has now been filmed from the International Space Station (ISS).

Riley said organising the filming onboard the busy space lab was not straightforward.

“My stipulation was that we had to film it at the same time of day that Gagarin had seen it, to get the Sun angles right. Those chances only happen every six weeks,” he explained.

FirstOrbit will have a YouTube premiere next month to celebrate Gagarin’s achievement 50 years on.

Priyanka Chopra was supposed to start shooting with Hrithik Roshan for "Agneepath", but at the last moment her shooting was cancelled. Rather than let her unused time go waste, she immediately got hold of her "Barfee" director Anurag Basu and began preparation for her part of the mentally challenged girl in the film.

"Yes, Priyanka's shooting for 'Agneepath' got cancelled. But it was only because the shooting with the other actors that was going on from earlier went on longer than expected. Priyanka immediately got in touch with Anurag Basu and took the time to prepare for her part," said Priyanka's business manager.

Being produced by Karan Johar, "Agneepath" is the remake of director Mukul Anand's 1990 film, which had Amitabh Bachchan in the lead role. Hrithik and Priyanka starrer is being directed by Karan Malhotra.

A source close to the actress said: "The last thing Priyanka's choc-a-block schedules can withstand are last-minute cancellations. Priyanka is very particular about her commitments and expects the same level of commitment from others. Any cancellation puts her off. And this was her first stint of 'Agneepath'. She was really looking forward to starting the shoot. But what to do? She took the cancellation in her stride."

But here's where Priyanka's enterprising spirit took over.

"Anurag was busy with other pre-production work. And tried to beg off. But Priyanka would hear none of it. She told Anurag this sudden space in her schedule was god-sent. She had not been able to prepare for 'Barfee' as much as she wanted to because of her tight schedules."

"Priyanka would hear none of Anurag's protestations. She just took over his time and insisted that they visit a couple of institutions for the mentally and physically challenged. She also got immersed in lengthy workshops and even convinced Ranbir Kapoor to join her. This week she and Anurag have been inseparable in giving authenticity to her character," said a source.

High Court reprieve for Suniel shetty, High court summons to Suniel Shetty

The Delhi High Court has granted 'absolute' stay on criminal proceedings against Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty in a case filed against him for allegedly threatening a stunt man four years ago.

The court admitted a plea filed by Puran Chauhan, a stunt man, who accused the actor of threatening him and not paying him any money for his services while shooting for the movie 'The Little God Father' in 2007.

While hearing Shetty's plea seeking quashing of the trial court's January 15, 2010, summons order following Chauhan's complaint case against him, Justice AK Pathak yesterday admitted the matter and said, "This court's interim order staying the criminal proceeding is made remain absolute." The prefix 'absolute' means the stay order will continue till the disposal of the case.

Justice Pathak passed the order after Chauhan refused the court's suggestion to opt for a compromise with Shetty.

According to Shetty, the litigation was initiated against him with an intention to extort money.

Get set to witness the event of the year. For all waiting with bated breath to catch the First Look of 2011's most anticipated film Ra.One, they are in for a treat. Shah Rukh Khan and Anubhav Sinha would be giving a glimpse of what the film is all about in a 10 seconds teaser during the First Quarter Finals of World Cup Cricket. As Pakistan take on West Indies today, the First Look would be beamed multiple times on the sports channels.

This is not all as starting tomorrow (with India v/s Australia Quarter Finals) and then for every subsequent match till the Finals, an exclusive 30 seconds teaser would be unleashed as well. Frequency of these teasers would be at least once every hour hence ensuring that no one misses having a glimpse of what lies ahead this Diwali.

Confirms Anubhav Sinha, the film's director, "Yes, the first look would be out during World Cup. Needless to say, this is a huge platform and for a film of this scale, there couldn't have been a better start."

Typically even for the biggest of the films, a first look is unveiled not more than 100 days in advance. Why are the makers looking at this promotional kick start more than 6 months in advance?

"Well, there have been so many myths about the film that started from the day Ra.One was first spoken about", says the soft spoken director, "It was very important for us to introduce to the audience what the film really is."

Elaborating, he continues, "Ra.One is not a Bollywood film that they have seen before. The kind of size and magnitude that the film has requires it to be slowly introduced to the audience and that's the very purpose why we are starting the whole communication so early."

And will Shah Rukh feature prominently in this teaser or would it be all about VFX and technical wizardry?

"To begin with the impression that you would get from the teaser is that Ra.One is one big action film. It would be only later in the subsequent promos that story angles would be introduced. And yes, as of now you would definitely get to see a glimpse of Shah Rukh's look. Also, all the doubts around whether Shah Rukh udta hai, kood-ta hai ya phir kuch stunts karta hai would be addressed as well", laughs Anubhav before signing off.

Also starring Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Rampal, Ra.One is a Diwali release and arrives all over on 26th October.

Actress Sonakshi Sinha wants to prove that she is truly "Dabangg" when it comes to her professional career. Brushing aside the rumours that she wants to refrain from doing item numbers, the actress came out saying that she is not scared of doing them.
