While Linda McMahon had plenty of money at her disposal, it wasn't enough to help her win the U.S. Senate race in Connecticut.
Multiple outlets including The Wall Street Journal and CNN.com are reporting that former WWE CEO McMahon -- the Republican candidate -- has lost to Connecticut Attorney General Dem. Richard Blumenthal.
While all the numbers from the precincts are not in yet, the current numbers show that she has 43 percent of the vote while Blumenthal has 53 percent.
McMahon was new to the political game, but she had one big thing going for her: money. She had stated early on that she would spend upwards of $50 million of her own money on her campaign and she ended up using nearly that amount. Meanwhile, Blumenthal -- a career politician -- had contributions of around $6 million. Combined, the two had the most expensive congressional race in the country.
It was a tight Senate race between the two candidates with the WWE landing smack in the middle of it by the end with Vince McMahon deciding that his company and fans were under attack, prompting him to start the "Stand Up for WWE" campaign.
Now we just have to see if Vince will ever decide to do something crazy like, say, run for president.
“I cannot thank you enough. We worked hard. We had an incredible victory. Be encouraged. We have won. The Delaware political system will never be the same. Well, you know what I mean by—my joking big brother goes: ‘We won? Did we miss something?’ You know what I meant. We were victorious because the Delaware political system will never be the same. I just got off the phone with my opponent and I reminded him that he is now in a position to help the people of Delaware who are suffering. I reminded him of Victor Rodriguez and Donald and his family and the many small business owners who are very concerned about these tax hikes. And if he does raise them on the top 2%, they’ll be forced to close their doors.
“I asked him to watch that 30 minute commercial that we did so he can see what’s going on in Delaware the way I have. And I asked him if he would talk to you and if he would take up my promise to in this lame duck session fight the death tax from being reinstated this January 1st. “So hopefully he will.
“And he’s gonna be up against his party leadership, but I asked him if he would sit down with some of the families who are very concerned about that and realize the difference he can make. So, we can only hope and pray that he chooses to go against his party leadership and do what’s right for the people of Delaware.
“But we’re not gonna stop fighting either—cause there’s a lot of work to be done—a lot of work to be done. As I’ve said this whole campaign is about putting the political process back into your hands. And that is where it is now. The leadership of our party is going to be drastically different—this next year. The leadership in Delaware will be drastically different from now on. Our elected officials will be held accountable to—by their constituents—like it or not.
“So, although the outcome isn’t what we all worked so hard for, our voice was heard—will continue to be heard. So I hope and pray that you are as encouraged as I am. We’ve got a lot of food. We’ve got the room all night. So, God Bless You. So, let’s party!”

Prestigious Bollywood film production house Yash Raj Films produced the blockbusters ‘Dhoom 1 and 2.’ The film house is now planning for another sequel Dhoom-3. There had been a talk in Bollywood from quite some time that South Indian Super Star Rajinikanth would work for this project.
Giving clarification on this, representatives of Yash Raj Films said that Rajinikanth is not acting in their new project ‘Dhoom-3.’
Rafeeq, a representative of Yash Raj Films said that there is now truth in the news that they had approached Rajinkanth for a special role for Dhoom 3, and that he had accepted to do it. He added that they highly respect the super star and hence giving the clarification. Further, he added that the script work for the film is still going on and cast and crew are yet to be selected.
Ramgopal Varma is never short of coming up with interesting ideas and new ways to promote them. The maverick director today made an announcement about his next film. The movie is titled Amma (meaning mother).

Since they would be involved in a test match right from Thursday to Monday, they would have missed out on the Friday release of the film. The second test match starts soon as well and it made sense for them to catch 'Action Replayy' before going neck deep down into the test season. 2010 Christmas won't be the first and the last time that Akshay Kumar, Farah Khan and Shirish Kunder would be collaborating for 'Tees Maar Khan'. That's because the makers have already formed up the plans to make many more in the series of 'Tees Maar Khan', just as is the case with Hollywood character franchise flicks like 'Austin Powers', 'Pink Panther' and 'James Bond'.
"Yes, we are going ahead with the next instalment of 'Tees Maar Khan' as well. This was always planned right from the time I started writing the film", says Shirish Kunder who is also the co-producer of the two films along with Akshay Kumar, "We didn't want to wait till the release of 'Tees Maar Khan' and then make an announcement. Our decision isn't dependent upon how audience receive the film now because I have already begun writing for 'Tees Maar Khan 2'."
Yet again, the film would star Akshay Kumar as the central protagonist. However, it is not confirmed whether Katrina Kaif and Akshaye Khanna would be seen in the second instalment or not. Also, the film could be directed by Farah Khan again or Shirish himself.
"All of that that would be decided once the script is in place. I am just getting into the first draft now. It would take some time before I have the bound script ready", says Shirish in an enthusiastic tone, "I am targeting to kick start the shooting in 2012 though once I am through with directing 'Joker' followed by 'Kick' in 2011."

Mumbai: The US would be spending a whopping $200 million (Rs. 900 crore approx) per day on President Barack Obama's visit to the city.
"The huge amount of around $200 million would be spent on security, stay and other aspects of the Presidential visit," a top official of the Maharashtra Government privy to the arrangements for the high-profile visit said.
About 3,000 people including Secret Service agents, US government officials and journalists would accompany the President. Several officials from the White House and US security agencies are already here for the past one week with helicopters, a ship and high-end security instruments.
"Except for personnel providing immediate security to the President, the US officials may not be allowed to carry weapons. The state police is competent to take care of the security measures and they would be piloting the Presidential convoy," the official said on condition of anonymity.
Navy and Air Force has been asked by the state government to intensify patrolling along the Mumbai coastline and its airspace during Obama's stay. The city's airspace will be closed half-an-hour before the President's arrival for all aircraft barring those carrying the US delegation.
The personnel from SRPF, Force One, besides the NSG contingent stationed here would be roped in for the President's security, the official said.
The area from Hotel Taj, where Obama and his wife Michelle would stay, to Shikra helipad in Colaba would be cordoned off completely during the movement of the President.

Bollywood beauty Bipasha Basu is all set to romance'Pearl Harbor'star Josh Hartnett in her first international film'Singularity'.Set in different time periods and directed by Roland Joffe, famous for his movies'City of Joy','The Killing Fields 'and' Captivity', the new film will see Bipasha playing an Indian she-warrior, named Tulaja.
The script has been written by Ajey Jhankar and other than Bipasha and Abhay Deol, the movie has a host of international stars including'Star Treck'actor Chris Pine, Bond girl Olga Kurylenko and Christopher Egan among others.
Bipasha will fly to Brisbane soon to rehearse with Hartnett and then start filming from 3rd week of November through last week of December, a statement said.
Joffe was in India in September for the casting of the epic romance and plans to shoot a major portion of the film in the country since the story revolves around Marathas in 1780s.
The movie traces an impossible love set across two time periods and continents centered around four characters a British officer in colonial India, the Indian woman he falls in love with, an American marine biologist and his lover, who is a researcher trapped in a wrecked British merchant ship. Only the power of a ring can transcend time and save a life.
Joffe, who captured the life of Kolkata's slums in'City of Joy'starring Shabana Azmi, Patrick Swayze and Om Puri, hopes to release the film by next year.
Paul Breuls'Belgian production is producing the film while Corsan World Sales is handling international sales. Anchor Bay holds the distribution rights for the US, UK and Australia.

Bollywood beauty Aishwarya Rai's traditional outfits in the film Raavanan are finding many takers in Malaysia with Deepavali shopping at it's peak.
The original outfits, long-sleeved salwar kameez (tunic) and chudidar pants, were created by Indian designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee and imitations have flooded the shops here with many shopper's asking for the Aishwarya masakali.
The suits have been in the market since early this year after the release of the movie but sales have peaked as Deepavali approaches, reported New Straits Time.
The salwar kameez also comes with transparent sleeves and multi-coloured dupattas (stoles) to suit the tastes of the individual shoppers.
Malaysia is home to 2.1 million ethnic Indians, a bulk of them are from Tamil Nadu and fans of Tamils films and film stars.
The Hindi version of the film Raavan failed to create magic at the box office, but Raavanan, in Tamil, became an instant hit in Malaysia.
Harekrishna Silk's managing director Thiyananthan Bathumalai said most of the masakali suits in the market today were inspired by movie stars.
"For example, we now have Robo masakali, which was inspired from the movie Enthiran (in which Aishwarya acted) and Raavan masakali, which was inspired by Raavan," he said.
"Every year, we have customers asking for a particular sari or suit that was worn by an actress in a movie. This year, everyone is asking for masakali suits which were worn by Aishwarya Rai," he added.
New Delhi: The Department of Telecom (DoT) will roll out the Mobile Number Portability (MNP) from November 25. To begin with, the service will be introduced in Haryana.
In a release, the DoT said, "The countrywide launch of MNP services will start from Haryana Licensed Service Area on November 25, 2010. From this date customers in Haryana will have the option of changing their service provider without changing their mobile numbers."
The department had earlier announced that MNP will be made available to the telephone users from November 1, but delayed it to give time to the service providers to "upgrade their network and other resources", the release said.
"The networks are now technically ready for launch of service. To facilitate an orderly and reliable introduction of MNP services, a suitable migration plan has been evolved in consultation with Mobile Service Providers (MSPs)," the release said.
MNP is a service that allows a mobile user to change his operator while retaining the number.
The customers who wish to avail the service will have to send and SMS to the number 1900. After getting a porting code, the customers have to make an application for porting of number.
"A period of four days has been prescribed for completion of porting (transfer) of the mobile number to the network of the new service provider," the DoT release said. The MNP will be implemented in the rest of the country in a phased manner.
Its implementation has already been delayed thrice due to different reasons. The MNP was to be first implemented by December 31, 2009 in all the Metro cities as well as in the states of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
But the deadline was changed to March 31, 2010 and thereafter to June 30, 2010 because of the lack of necessary infrastructure.
The June 30 deadline for the implementation of MNP was again deferred as the operators were not ready with the infrastructure to provide the service. Tags: Mobiles, G'five, iPhones, apple, Nokia

Although most of Bollywood didn’t venture into Bengaluru, Vivek Oberoi’s wedding with Priyanka Alva maintained its entire entertainment quotient. The day began on Friday afternoon, with a haldi ceremony at Chancery Pavillion. Most present at the event were dunked into the pool.
The ceremony started at the Alva residence, where the Oberois and the baraat reached at about 5.30 pm. Designer Tarun Tahiliani had created the red-gold outfits for the couple and everyone was heard raving about how gorgeous the two looked in shaadi ke jode (wedding attire).
Vivek While the drive from Windsor Manor hotel, where the groom’s family were put up, was covered in minutes, the journey from the entrance to the mandap took considerable time as Vivek rode a decorated ghodi (horse) as per tradition. Of course, Vivek was teased aplenty by the bride’s side before he got on the mare. Even the ghodi was made to sway and trot before he was allowed to get off.
Oberoi had to give up his shoes to his sisters-in-law before he was let into the mandap to take his seat next to his waiting bride.
Apart from the Swarovski crystals from Czechoslovakia and flowers from Italy, the mandap also had huge LCD screens put up to broadcast the entire ceremony. The wedding rites were performed as per both the Punjabi and the Karnataka traditions, and by the time the ceremony ended, it was 2 am.
When Oberoi asked for his shoes, his sisters-in-law apparently demanded Rs 25 lakh. “But it was all in good humour. Eventually, after some teasing and cajoling, the Oberois paid a couple of lakhs, so Vivek could get his shoes back,” revealed a source.
The food lawn was no less ostentatious and the buffet spread was no less extravagant, even though the families opted to stick to vegetarian food only. “The Alva and Oberoi families had decided to keep the food vegetarian. Besides, there was a separate spread for Karnataka specialties,” said our source, adding that the dessert spread was equally grand “with a nine-feet chocolate fountain” on the menu.
Nearly 200 policemen were deployed for security and about 4,000 guests attended the wedding to congratulate the daughter of Karnataka’s late political leader Jeevaraj Alva and Oberoi.
Sangeeta Bijlani and Sushmita Sen, who attended the wedding with daughter Renee, made up for the B-town quotient. Southside stars like Chiranjeevi, Sudeep and director Mani Ratnam were also present. However, the political presence was a lot more visible as Siddaramaiah, Venkaiah Naidu, RV Deshpande, DB Chandregouda, Narendra Babu, Roshan Beig and Mayor S Nataraj arrived with their multi-car security convoys
